In many South Asian traditions, mehendi (or henna) is applied to the bride's hands and feet before the wedding. This is a cultural rather than religious practise, and is hosted by the bride's family. My ceremony was organised by a close family friend, who did an absolutely amazing job. The entrance was decorated with flowers ... there was delicious chaat being served outside in the garden while guests chatted and applied mehendi and chose bangles to wear ... and I sat on a pretty little swing while I had my mehendi put on. I think this was the most fun wedding party for me, because it was just so relaxed and lovely! (Plus, I got to wear my favorite wedding outfit - more on that in a minute.
